It’s #bookqw and Rivley is ‘quiet’ about his feelings!
More from my story, Falling into Place:
Daeryn walked to the door. “Don’t you think of anything besides mechanics these days?”
“Not if I want my own shop…” Well, there was something. “Did that new kitchen helper survive the day?”
“The redhead? Yep, she was eating with her sister. Cute—oh no.” Daeryn waved his hands. “Please don’t say it.”
Rivley crossed his arms. “Haven’t said a thing.”
Daeryn narrowed his eyes. “You haven’t asked after a female since we left Rockbridge. But unlike those girls, this one isn’t ’cambire.”
“That matters because?”
Daeryn frowned, going all alpha…except for the telltale slide of his hand over his gildan talisman.
Rivley eyed him. “We’re not returning to Rockbridge any time soon.”
“Maybe not ever,” Daeryn said quietly.
“Maybe not ever,” Rivley repeated. “No decision yet.”
“Unless you fall for a human.”
Or a Knack-bearer, but neither would fit into life in the Black Mountains. Rivley tapped his belly. “We won’t have a life waiting for us there. Unless you’ll start work on this gildan.”
Daeryn huffed. “Don’t have time to argue. I have to begin my guard rotation, or Owen will be on my tail.” He shoved open the door, letting in the cold.

On a personal note:
My native seeds have arrived!
As you can see, most of the seed is native grasses. The county prairie restoration specialist didn’t think our grass seeding from 2020 took very well. The ratio should be 60% grass to 40% forbs / wildflowers, but the prairie sage (the grayish plants in the photo) has dominated the growth.
I reordered four of the grass seed and am most excited to see if we can get the Blue Gramma to grow – it looks like eyelashes and is the Colorado state grass.
I also picked up four new wildflowers to try in the meadow and a huge bag of wildflower seed for under my aspen trees.
Here’s a before photo…
In the area I seeded two weeks ago, I am seeing little two-leaf sprouts emerging. We had a light snow that helped soak them in. With any luck, we’ll get another snow or gentle rain in the next week. Fingers crossed!
