It’s #BookQW and will two ‘strong’ personalities sail together?
More from Chapter 11:
“And I already ken that you telling off your father and leaving home doesn’t change your desires to build a business. You won’t instantly decide to live on a boat because of this.”
Was Salm upset they hadn’t gone away? Or about her decision that she wasn’t ready to live aboard a boat with him? He didn’t look angry, but she was too flustered to read him right now. “Oh, Salm.”
“Answer me this: Did telling your father you were leaving feel right?”
She bit her lip. “I should be a good daughter and say no. But aye, it did. I’ve been going behind his back for too long, knowing that what I want to do isn’t what he wants for me. I can’t live his way, so it’s best I—” Her voice caught, and a tear rolled down her cheek.
“Set your own course,” Salm finished. “I can see you doing that. You’re a strong woman, Luna Ness. Obviously, if you’re willing to put up with me.”
Her tears flowed in earnest now.
“You are welcome to stay aboard The Peaceful.” He lifted his hands. “No rent and no strings attached to that offer, until you chart this. What do you want to do?”
Fine, no rent. She couldn’t afford to argue. She wiped her face. “I’m sorry to cut into our time together, but I must put out the word I’m available for repairs this week. I’ll need the extra work that always comes up during Fest.”
