I missed my posts this week, because we returned to a favorite camping spot: Vedauwoo Recreation Area in the Medicine Bow National Forest. I’ve been visiting this granite rock jumble all my life, and it’s the perfect spot for picnicking, bouldering, or a hike in the drizzle, as we had. Follow our adventure along the Turtle Rock Trail.
Vedauwoo is a rocky island off Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming.
The granite rocks are surrounded by spruce, pine and aspen trees.
Moose frequent the beaver ponds in the area, but we didn’t see any.
We *think* this might be the actual Turtle Rock.
The turtle?
Taking a heavy rain break under a granite overhang!
A seepage area with lush plant growth on the shaded north side.
Kinnikinnick with berries.
The sunsets and clear nights were the cherries on top!
I haven’t found a more peaceful area.
