Celebrate National Trails Day ~ Get Outside

Posted June 1, 2018 by Laurel Wanrow in My non-writing life / 0 Comments

Where am I this weekend?

Well, at home. The daily thunderstorms in the Washington D. C. area have raised the river levels and cancelled my camping plans and much-needed outdoor time at this lovely retreat.

Working as a naturalist and environmental educator, most of my day used to be outside. As a writer, not so much.

I still plan on taking a hike–maybe over at Great Falls National Park to check out the overflowing falls. Hope you can get outdoors, for even an hour. I’m sure you’ve seen the reports of how desperately our bodies crave nature–if not, goggle it! My favorite was this National Geographic article: This Is Your Brain on Nature. Listen to the video for sure–then get outside!
