It’s #BookQW and will Salm’s onery “blue” magic let them sail together?

More from Chapter 6:

So…they still needed to break the news together. Following Luna, Salm checked his good clothes again, then flicked his fingertips. His energy sparked, taking the edge off his nerves. This caught him broadside. Luna was often quiet when they met after weeks apart, but this time, he’d thought their plans were firm: He’d arrive, they’d talk to Keeper Jonah and be off for the week together.

She hadn’t told him not to come up. This was awkward. Usually, they met on the dock and flew to the moor or walked on the beach. And kissed.

Kissed a lot.

Clearly, she wasn’t in that mood tonight. In that way, she was like their dolphins, having to be cajoled into the right frame of mind to work with him. Maybe all lasses were. He’d gotten only close enough to Luna to learn that sometimes he had to wait—and still he didn’t get it right every time. But he was trying.

He angled around her frozen form and brushed aside the fluff of curls from her downward-tilted head. Her round face was bunched in creases, her lashes lowered, gaze not meeting his.

Ah, blast it all to the bottom of the sea. He wrapped her in a hug and kissed what was available—her forehead. She might have changed her mind about the trip, but he wasn’t about to let her forget what they had. He let his magic loose. Blue strands swam from his fingertips and flushed over her. In answer, Luna’s silver magic stirred, then flushed, brightening her skin for a nanosecond, then retreating but leaving her hair whiter than it already was.

She leaned into him, arms still crossed and stiff. “Can we go somewhere else?” she whispered.
