It’s #BookQW and sometimes being ‘dizzy’ can be fun!
More from Chapter 22:
A huge grin spread over her face.
Beri raised a brow in question.
“I’ve done it,” she said. “I’ve sealed the channels.”
He tapped experimentally at her fingertips. Nothing happened. “Aye, you have. I’m quite happy for you, Fern.” He grinned and, unexpectedly, hugged her.
It felt incredible. She wound her arms around him, snuggled her face into his neck and hugged him back. He smelled so good, felt so warm, stood so tall.
Bolts of green energy gushed through her channels. Magic broke from her, not a tingling, but a warm flush across her skin. Even being a newbie, this felt quite different from the buzzing. Let it be blushing, just simple human blushing. She peeked.
Light—spring green—flowed over her arms and chest…and coated Beri’s torso.
Oh. My. God.
Fern eased away from him. “Sorry, I…”
He also glowed, and emerald magic crept over to her and across her hands, still resting on him. Her fingers marked the difference in his magic versus hers, like petting two cats at the same time but not being able to describe how the textures of their fur were different, just that they were. You still liked both and kept petting both.
Willow had mentioned an energy exchange—she’d said that helped decide about bonding applications.
Her mouth formed into a little O, and her gaze met Beri’s.
His mouth curled in a wry smile. “Ah, I showed you my magic, and now you’ve shown me yours. So what do you say, Fern?”
Her gaze dropped to his chest. In something that looked like half-set gelatin, clouds of green swirled together, wound around her stroking fingers in misty tendrils and surged back and forth like miniature waves. Fern was so dizzy from it all, she could hardly think straight. What did she have to say about this Scottish guy’s magic?
“I like it,” she whispered. And a smile crept onto her face.
Beri broke into a wide grin. “Aye, I do, too.”
