It’s #BookQW and ‘simple’ questions are the hardest.

More from Chapter 9:

“Don’t you have anything better to do?”

Ouch. Simple enough question, but it stung since Ty didn’t. These scant minutes of chase and hide were the most excitement he’d had since leaving academy. His mind leaped, his adrenaline rose and his magic pumped, like it had during the mock espionage scenarios from his magical training. Ty sank onto his heels. “There’s nothing going on more interesting than this,” he admitted.

“Aye, there is. Go find it,” Coral snapped.

“I won’t give you away. Is this your form of dueling?”

It sounded like she’d snorted.

Man, if he were down there, he could read her face. But he wouldn’t fit. The voices at the end of the alley trailed away, and the scraping of twigs replaced them—Coral sidling out from behind the planter. Quick as he could, Ty imagined the location and pereported into her path.

She startled back. “Out—”

“There are four others at the bakery door,” he said.

“Oh—I—Orb curse it.” She melted behind the bushes again.
